Library Journal Review

In her eighth outing (after Reap the Wind), Cassie Palmer is still learning on the job in her new role as pythia, the chief seer of the supernaturals and daughter of long-dead goddess Artemis. This time, Cassie will need all her friends and foes to stand by her, because older forces are returning to take back the world they once ruled. But the fey and the vampires are getting ready to battle, and without them, Cassie has no chance of winning, which will mean everyone loses. VERDICT There is little that can stand in the face of Chance's engaging heroine, and urban fantasy readers will find this series still running strong.-KC © Copyright 2017. Publishers Weekly Review

Chance's fun second urban fantasy novel picks up where Reap the Wind left off. Cassie Palmer, aka the hapless seer Pythia, is still trying to find (and save) her friend John Pritkin (who's the son of a demon) and she has a lot of other things on her plate. Time hopping takes a lot out of a person, and the universe seems to be out to get her. She contemplates an opportunity to explore her attraction to Pritkin while learning some painful secrets from her past. Additionally, reporters are trying to blackmail Cassie into telling her story; there are rampaging origami animals in the casino where she lives; a war mage decides to hold her acolyte, Rhea Silvanus, hostage; and there are pitched battles right out of the Middle Ages. It's all a bit exhausting to keep up with, but Chance's imagination knows no bounds, and fans will find a lot to love in her blend of epic action with private drama. (Aug.) © Copyright PWxyz, LLC.
